    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really is "doable" if you're doing the right things!

Congratulations on the CR! Apparently the writing things down as you worked did pay off after all!

As for the Writing, I actually have a theory: I remember you saying that you were thrown off by (what you thought was) the experimental section, so I'm thinking that by the time you got to Section 10 Writing, you might have just been really exhausted and overlooked things you would normally have seen. I've seen that happen before with students who got really hard experimental sections.

hmm.  Interesting theory.  Maybe.  I also got a 9 on this Essay (vs. a 10 on the last one).  Could one point on the essay have moved me from a 700 to a 680?

          • Anonymous

Yes, that could have absolutely done it. As a matter of fact, that probably is what did it. The essay does definitely have an impact on your score.

          • Akil

each raw point on the essay is worth either 10 or 20 scaled score points.. typically most often its worth 20.

Congratulations!  I'm so thrilled to see the improvement in your math score!  I think you've now got a stable base of knowledge in place and your scores are only going to go up as you work on your speed and fine tuning things.  Woot!

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

Thanks Stacey.  I'm going to definitely work on speed this summer with Kumon. (loved it there, btw).

And p.s. All the credit for this score increase goes to YOU!

  • John Carpenter

So great to see the progress, Debbie.  I was actually thinking of you yesterday when I knew that scores had been released.  Congratulations all around, and thanks for sharing this project with everyone the last several months.

Way to go Debbie!  Loving following your progress.  Are you taking some time off this summer?

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

Thanks Sheldon.  I've taken a few days off to get the rest of my life in order -- but I'm ready to get back to working on it.  I feel like I was just picking up steam and don't want to lose any momentum.

nice job Debbie! Can't wait to see how you do on the fall tests!

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

Thanks Vince.  Me too.  I feel like I've learned so much since I took that test.

Love seeing the upward trends!  From what I hear, the writing section can be so unpredictable, although I'm sure you'll figure out the "method".

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

Thanks Grace.  I feel pretty confident that I'll get that one figured out.  I'm still more worried about the math!

  • Akil

you should track your changes in raw score and accuracy from test to tests. it might be more revealing. or 40 point gain in math might be due to skips (better test taking) or due to getting more right (learning more). you might also want to plot a right wrong blank chart from test to test

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

I have been meaning to do that!!!  I am getting close to getting organized enough to be so methodical.  In fact, my "organizer" just left here and I seriously am getting closer.

  • Elise

Did you know that there is actually a movie titled "The Perfect Score"?  It's actually about kids cheating to try to get a perfect SAT score!!  Ha ha

    • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

In fact I did know that.  I spent about 120 hours considering whether or not to change my name because of it -- but ultimately decided to stick with what I had.
