I really liked the part in the article where you told us where to find our old SAT scores. =P

Glad to be of service ;)

I ordered my scores from high school and it cost i think $35 to do it. Such a rip off.

The high school made the money or CB?

      • http://twitter.com/akilbello Akil Bello

oh the CB for sure.. to order my old scores it was paid directly to CB it was like $25 for just looking and then an extra $10 if they found it (i think)!

One day I'm going to make a list of all of the "extras" you have to pay for.....$18 for QAS, $35 for the old score report, $25 to change test date or location, etc. etc.

And then another list about ways they make money we don't think about (e.g. selling the scores).

Do you read "None of the Above?"  If not, run don't walk.  You will love.

and dont forget $55 to have them check your scantron. $10 per school for extra reports.

            whats none of the above?

          • http://www.perfectscoreproject.com Debbie Stier

            Right...won't forget!
None of the Above is a book from 1983 about the SAT. http://www.amazon.com/None-Above-Revised-Culture-Education/dp/0847695077/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326562926&sr=8-3-spell

Worth every red cent.  Inhaled in one sitting.  Posted a few of my favorite quotes...but it was really hard to narrow it down like that. http://perfectscoreproject.com/2012/01/good-poker-players-make-good-sat-takers-and-other-quotable-moments-2/

Even if you aren't interested in the SAT, it's a fun read.

Ooooooohhh! Thanks! I just assumed that since it was so long ago that I would have to go dig around my mom's house and hope that they are buried in old school stuff that never got thrown away. This sounds much better! I'm going to try to figure this out this week. I've got to know! Thanks so much for looking this up!

Do you remember questions?  I do!  I'm DYING to get back my actual test  -- not offered up by the College Board, as far as I know.....but requested by me none the less.  Request went unheeded, btw,  though @eriktheredtutor did send me a 1982 SAT.  I flipped through it quickly to see if the q's I remembered were on there...but I didn't seem them.  But I need to go back and look more  carefully (no less take the darn thing).

I can't remember anything about the SAT I took. I know that I took it but I really don't even remember the experience. Maybe it was so bad I blocked it out. I must have done OK since I got into every school I applied to except for Harvard! I'm impressed that you remember actual questions!

Hey, can I ask another stupid question? How do I sign in officially with a picture and everything? Or do I need to keep signing in as a guest? I love your blog and will definitely keep coming back. Thanks again for sharing so many great insights and info.

P.S. you have forgotten the Devine in american education post have you? I'm not being impatient - just hoping that you are still planning to write it.

I *think* I remember questions.  I need to verify!

Re signing in with picture -- I can't remember because it was so long ago -- but go to http://disqus.com and set up an account and then see if it let's you do it.

I haven't forgotten that post.  It's on my VERY long to do list.  High up though!

I really shouldn't respond on my iPhone after seeing just how many typos I made on that last post, not to mention the double posting! But I can't resist a challenge. I'm sure I can make it work this time! Maybe that has something to do with why I like the SAT so much?

I'm still impressed that you even think that you remember questions.

Glad to hear that the Decline in America post is still on the list. I'll be patient!
