Tutoring

“When I sought out Debbie, I was in a state of high anxiety. Like many parents of high school juniors, I’d been anticipating (and dreading) everything about the SAT/ACT practically since my daughter started kindergarten.

Despite my apprehension, however, I’d done remarkably little to educate myself about the process. Even the simplest things like sign-up dates, the test structures, deciding which test to take—they were all mysteries to me.

Enter Debbie and instant (I’m not kidding, instant) relief. She is warm. Optimistic. Realistic. Smart— intellectually and emotionally. She literally wrote the book on taking these tests and getting students (and their parents) through the process. Best of all, she really wants your child to succeed. Easy to communicate with, available, supportive, Debbie knew just how to tailor her tutoring to the particular needs and learning style of my daughter. I recommend her without hesitation and in fact enjoy going out of my way to tell friends about her talent for helping students excel.”

The Perfect Score Project is an international company based in New York that specializes in test preparation and college admissions. We work with students to navigate the often confusing American college admissions process, from standardized tests (SAT, ACT, and subject tests) to college applications and personal essays.

We also specialize in the standardized tests for secondary school placement (SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT), as well as host workshops by Skype. For example, many students struggle with writing a thesis, so we launched a thesis writing workshop: How to write a thesis in 3 easy steps

Taking a holistic approach, we teach foundational academic skills and writing mastery that is not only essential for a top test score, but will also serve in high school, in college, and in life. Our students achieve top test scores and write distinguished personal essays that stand out in this competitive marketplace.

Each student receives personalized attention and rigorous instruction, including techniques to master the mental game for optimal performance.  Our training gives students command of the material and a confidence that allows them to triumph.

We work via Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangouts or in person at our Lincoln Center offices in New York City.  We are also available to travel as necessary.

Students we have worked with have gone on to attend Stanford, Barnard, North Western, Cornell, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Bowdoin, Princeton, Wesleyan, New York University, Columbia, among many other colleges and universities.

Debbie discovered that she loved tutoring after finishing her SAT project with her son and homeschooling her daughter. She works 1-on-1 with students to help them prepare for the SAT, the ACT, and college applications. The material she teaches is not only effective for the SAT, but is also helpful in high school, in college, and in life!

“Thank you so much for helping me, not only with the SAT, but also with school! I developed more confidence in taking the SAT and gained greater skills and knowledge in writing than I had obtained in all three months of my AP English class!”

Her approach is unique in that she starts by teaching her “method,” then assigns short, personalized, daily lessons, which she follows up with daily feedback — a process backed by research. Students maximize their study time by breaking down the overwhelming task of preparing, into short, manageable assignments.

The result is a test prep process that is transformed from stressful to attainable, and even enjoyable.
